Tonight we had the privilege of hanging out with some new friends, the Bokma Family. I met Sarah and Roland Bokma and two of their kids over 4 weeks ago at Costco. It's another God story as He crossed our paths just 3 days before they were to leave for Ethiopia to pick up their newly adopted children, Gertie and Yabi. We connected at Costco because I was nosy and listened in on Sarah's conversation with her daughter Claire as Claire asked "Mom, what else do we have to get here at Costco?" Sarah answered, "Well, we need to get a few more things for the orphanage!" I heard the word orphanage and that's when I got nosy!
Sarah and Roland traveled to Ethiopia with their oldest teenage boy and came back with Gertie and Yabi just under a month ago. Brian, Sahara and I got to go over to their home this evening and hang out and get to know their adoption story more and meet their kids. We were greeted out in the street by Gertie running out of the house to meet us! She gave me a huge hug and then grabbed Sahara's hand to play. Sahara was in heaven as all the kids jumped on their trampoline out back.
What a wonderful night and addition to our growing number of new friends that have experienced or are experiencing the adoption process. It was really encouraging to see Gertie and Yabi adjusting so well.

It is beautiful to see how the Lord weaves together those who share the vision of caring for the orphans of the world. I've enjoyed your blog. Many blessings on this amazing journey.

I skyped with Sarah 2 weeks ago while I was at her aunt Roberta's house for dinner--to talk about adoption! I 'met' Gerti and Yabi over the internet. Small world--Dan and I traveled to Keyna with Sarah and Roland's parents last summer.
