We had two really good news days in a row for the Knapp Family at the end of last week:
1. Our Homestudy Report was completed and ready for pick up...more below.
2. Our biological daughter, Sahara, was accepted into PreK at the Potter's House...more below.
I600A Documentation
With our Homestudy Report in our hands, we were finally able to send out our USCIS Immigration Paperwork out to be processed, also known as your I600A Documentation. This stack of documents will meet the United States government requirements for international adoption. We gathered our stack of waiting papers together and shipped them out Priority Mail Next Day on Saturday Morning. Our Government should have received our request in today's mail. What does this mean in simple terms? We will be waiting for the next 1-3 months for another document to be mailed to us stating we are ready to begin the final phase of paperwork for the adoption. We'll keep you posted during the waiting process. I'll also try to give a brief summary of what our Adoption Agency is trying to make happen on behalf of Ethiopian orphans. There's lots to report.
Potter's House
Brian and I have been talking and praying about where to send Sahara for PreK next fall for a long time. We met and talked with so many people and got lots of advice. But the one thing that sealed the decision for us was when we visited the Potter's House for a tour several months ago. The Potter's House provides a Christ-centered education to children of all ethnic heritages and income levels, equipping them to serve God and society to their fullest potential. We knew that adopting a child from Ethiopia would completely change our lives, but I'm sure we don't realize to what extent. God gave us both such a peace when we left the building that day, I knew somehow He would provide a way for our children to go there. Sure enough, we received a call last Thursday afternoon that Sahara was accepted to be enrolled into the Potter's House schools [we were on a waiting list to be accepted]. If you're interested in learning more about the Potter's House check out their website at www.pottershouseschool.org
Well, that's all for now....I've got some chores to get done before the day is over!
With joy,
Jen
