September Change Challenge
We are finally so much closer than we ever thought we'd be in the adoption process! Our documents are in Ethiopia and we are awaiting the day we get the call for our referral--the child God has chosen to become a part of our family--no longer an orphan. Now we anticiapte receiving that call in the next 3-6 months!
EVERY 18 SECONDS ANOTHER CHILD BECOMES AN ORPHAN
We have spent over $10,000 preparing all of our official documents to get overseas. It will take an additional $14,000 to bring our new daughter home. At this point we have been able to pay for each invoice of the adoption through Jen's job at Costco. As we prepare to bring our daughter home, we recognize that it is time for us to invite our friends and family to be a part of this journey with us. Due to the economy, back to school agendas and other misc. issues, we are choosing not to host an adoption fundraising dinner. However, we have created a simple opportunity to ask you to support our adoption. Throughout the month of September, we would like to challenge you, and especially any kids in your family, to fill a jar with loose change. Loose change is laying everywhere in our homes: our dirty laundry, nightstand junk drawer, couch cushions, and yes--the inevitable--washing machine. We would be so grateful if every time you picked up a penny and put it in a jar you thought of an orphan somewhere in the world and prayed for him/her.
THERE ARE 143 MILLION ORPHANS IN THE WORLD TODAY
Brian and I have recently been challenged by some dear friends to let go of the grip that we have on the adoption process--the feeling that we have to accomplish this on our own. So, here we are, asking you to join us. And we are thanking you in advance for praying for our family as we wait for that special day when our phone rings. And thanking you for praying for our new daughter--that God would continue to favor her life and her physical body as she continues to wait for a family.
With great hope and love from Brian, Jen and Sahara
