Needed: Lots of Band Aids

Just now remembering to call and get an appointment for all of the Immunization Shots that Brian and I will need to get prior to our travel to pick up our daughter. [Thank You, Scott Family!] Called our Insurance Company...and of course they don't cover any of these. Called the Kent County Health Department and here is what Brian and I are scheduled to get next Wednesday at 10:15 in the morning:

Hepatitis A $29
Hepatitis B $35
Typhoid $49
Measles $57
Menengitis $100
Yellow Fever $95

That's per person. So that's a grand total of $730! Wow! Big slap in the face. But I'm reminded again today that this whole journey is not a "faith" journey, but rather a "trust" journey. God has provided over and over again so I'm going to do something difficult for me and trust that He will do it again!

Think of us Wednesday morning...that's 12 OUCHES and 12 BAND AIDS!!

Whew--good thing you're getting those done. For your good and your little one's good as well. Don't forget to ask S's doctors if she should get any vaccinations--our pediatricians suggested we add the Hep A series to our kids' list of vaccinations.

Some of the Hep shots are series--meaning you'll have to get another 'round' in a few months.

Also, which we didn't realize until we went to pay the bill, they charge and additional $10 per shot administration. So I fear you'll have to add another $120 onto your whopping total. As if this whole shot thing wasn't painful enough to begin with...

Our arms ache for you...

Oh sorry, the positive side. We have never had better nurses than the ones at the Health Department. They were so upbeat, pleasant, and (if possible) great shot-givers. Maybe the needles are smaller now, but they hardly hurt at all.

And you get stickers...

Are you sure you need all of those or are they just the recommended ones? I got the Hep A, Hep B, update tetanus (DPT) and that'd be it. Unless you are traveling outside of Addis for some sightseeing and such. I paid a total of $120 for myself.

Double thumbs-up for the stickers :)
