Too small
The courts didn't open last week like we had hoped. The new expected opening date is next week Wednesday, October 14th. We are praying hard for Ayantu's emotions during this difficult time for her. We imagine she doesn't understand what is going on nor what is about to happen for that matter.
As I reflect and think about what needs to take in such a short amount of time, I want to make sure that I'm not making God too small. In my mind and all of the things I know about God, I know He is fully capable of working out all of these details...and will. But what I need to do is experience His working this out. In doing so I will be able to add more heart knowledge, rather than words, to God's goodness, faithfulness and creative ways.
In the meantime...while we wait...there's plenty to do! House projects are still unfinished! Sahara is getting ready to have her tonsils out on in a few weeks. I'm still working on my checklist for things to bring to Ethiopia. The days are full and seem to go by fast.
I'll leave you with the words of a song God has been using to challenge me:
"What do I know of Holy?"
I made you promises a thousand times
I've tried to hear from heaven
but I talk the whole time
I think I made you too small
I never feared you at all
If you touched my face would I know you?
Looked into my eyes could I behold you?
What do I know of you?
Who spoke me into motion
Where have I even stood but the soil along your ocean
Are you fire? Are you fury?
Are you sacred? Are you beautiful?
So what do I know?
What do I know of Holy?
I guess I thought that I had figured you out
I knew all the stories and I learned to talk about
How you were mighty to save
But those were only empty words on a page
Than I caught a glimpse of who you might be
The slightest hint of you brought me down to my knees
What do I know of you?
Who spoke me into motion
Where have I even stood but the shore along your ocean?
Are you fire? Are you fury?
Are you sacred? Are you beautiful?
What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?
And a God who gave life it's name
What do I know of Holy?
Of the one who the angels praise
All creation knows your name
On earth and heaven above
What do I know of this love?

Love that song by Addison Road! We'll keep praying Jen.
Hey Jen,
I think about you often and pray for your family daily! I am blessed to have met you and your family. I was reading my scriputures and thought this may add a glimmer of assurance...
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
—Romans 12:12
Miss you!
Jody Clark
I was singing that song while I made dinner tonight! Such meaningful words. And deeply true of my life.
I am praying.
